Barra Honda National Park is located in the province of Guanacaste, 22 kilometers (13.66 miles) northwest of the city of Nicoya.
It is the only park in Costa Rica that has a complex of underground caverns, and with Karstic morphology (stalagmites and stalactites are usually formed). It also has a type of transitory vegetation and its humid and warm climate.
It has a biological corridor where it is the passage and home of many endangered and migratory species such as birds. With trails and a viewpoint with a spectacular view.

This option includes entrance to the Barra Honda National Park, equipment to descend into the caves with a specialized guide.
Firstly, 4-kilometers (2.4 miles) walk is made where the first 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) are of ascent until reaching the caverns, there they put on the equipment and descend a 17-meter vertical ladder. The main room of the cavern is visited for 30 minutes per protocol.
Then we return, climb the 17-meter ladder, on its own, and walk back 4 more kilometers. Later we will visit to a wonderful viewpoint and so we finished the activity in the park.
We will have lunch typical food in a soda that is very close to the park called La Casita Posada Rural.
After having enjoyed this dish, we will make a small historical review the Nicoya Guanacaste park and we will see the church of San Blas de Nicoya, almost four centuries old, declared of historical-architectural interest. Here the tour ends and we will go back to the starting point.

This second option includes entrance to the Barra Honda National Park includes: hiking and visit to a wonderful viewpoint. A lunch of typical food in a soda that is very close to the park called La Casita Posada Rural.
After having enjoyed this dish, we will go and a small demonstration will be held in the Nicoya Guanacaste park and we will see the church of San Blas de Nicoya, almost four centuries old, declared of historical-archaeological interest. Here the tour ends and we will go back to the starting point. It depends on the client's place of stay, if you prefer, we will make a small visit to the Santa Cruz or Filadelfia Park to see its beautiful archeology that stands out in these Cantons.
